  The mission of the Black History Committee of Orange County, Inc. (BHCOC) is to educate the citizen of Orange County and America about Black History, which is a vital source of American History. 

  T
he BHCOC is committed to improving dialogue as it pertains to the contributions that African-Americans have made to society. 

  T
he BHCOC is committed to improving the literacy in our community by donating funds to students who wish to continue their education by obtaining an undergraduate or graduate degree, and to help disadvantage communities with their needs.
 

  The BHCOC celebrates the inventions, achievements and contributions that African Americans have made to society.  The committee's goal is to ensure that Black History will continue to be a vital part of American History, and in hopes that Black History will be a part of every curriculum in public and private schools.  The BHCOC in partnership with various governmental entities and private sector companies throughout America ensures that Black History is preserved in our communities.  The BHCOC believes in showcasing the rich culture and contributions that African Americans have made by displaying their Art, Dance, Music, Songs, Literature, Books, Artifacts, Clothing, Rich Soul Food and much more.

he BHCOC has donated over $30,000 to local schools, colleges and universities in Orlando and the State of Florida (i.e., Pineloch Elementary, Valencia Community College, University of Central Florida, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, and to Bethune Cookman College).  Another $5,000 has been donated to the community and other states and countries to help with tutoring, water distribution system in Haiti, Victims of home fires, Little leagues, local churches, and the Hurricane Katrina and Rita Relief efforts and much more.
